Care Instructions for Natural Wooden Products (Non-Food Items)
All of our natural wood products are finished and sealed with high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting durability. Over time, the sheen and protective qualities of these finishes may naturally degrade. When this occurs, you may restore the finish by applying a small amount of mineral oil or your preferred finish and sealant.
Care Instructions for Cutting Boards, Charcuterie Boards, and Other Food-Related Products
To maintain the quality of your wooden products, please follow these guidelines:
-
Cleaning:
After each use, clean your product with warm water and dish soap. Dry thoroughly with a dish towel. -
Monthly Maintenance:
Coat the surface with food-safe mineral oil once a month. Follow these steps for optimal results:- Wash with hot water and a sponge.
- Place the product on its edge to air dry for 3-5 hours.
- Apply approximately one ounce of food-safe mineral oil to both sides and edges using a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Wipe off any excess oil to ensure a smooth, even coating.
Important Care and Usage Guidelines
To prolong the lifespan and preserve the integrity of your wooden products, we strongly advise:
- No Dishwashing: Never place wood products in the dishwasher. The heat and moisture can cause the wood to warp, splinter, or crack.
- Avoid Knife Damage: Do not use knives directly on the boards to prevent deep cuts and damage to the surface.
- No Soaking: Do not soak wood products in water, whether in the sink or dish pan. Prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to crack, twist, or bow.
- Avoid Hot Items: Do not place hot utensils, teapots, or pans directly on the boards. While hot cooked meats like steaks are acceptable, direct heat can damage the wood over time.
- No Microwave or Oven: Do not place wood products in the microwave or oven. The metal screws in the feet of some products can cause issues in the microwave, and the heat can dry out the wood, leading to damage.
- Keep Away from Heat Sources: Avoid placing wood products near heat sources, as the heat can compromise the wood’s integrity.
- Use Only Food-Safe Oils: Do not use olive or vegetable oils for maintenance, as they can turn rancid quickly and negatively affect the wood.
By following these care instructions, you will help ensure that your natural wood products remain in excellent condition for years to come. Thank you for choosing Patriot Laser Artistry.
